As Longecity has pioneered crowdfunding in anti-aging science, it is great to see the concept taken up!
As Mind touched on, LongeCity has adjusted its own approach towards fundraiser 'certification' - as explained here
But this does NOT mean that we are not open to conduct fundraisers -large or small- anymore. We are very happy to have them, only our matching funding is now limited to $800 per initiative (because our science funding goes elsewhere) .
So when lifespan.io came up, it could have been a 'competitor' or a 'partner'.
Beyond a nominal fee for peer review LongeCity does not charge for hosting fundraisers, which means more of the money donated end up in research. On the other hand, for the 5-10% fees that lifespan.io charge, I'm sure scientists receive a much sleeker and more professional project support than LongeCity might be able to deliver.
That's great and indeed, one of the main considerations for launching our 'certification' scheme was to allow LE-researcher to reach across various funding platforms and to maximise exposure.
Unfortunately it was conveyed to us that the lifespan.io would not allow LC-accredited initiatives to display the accreditation 'badge'. There are signals that this policy might be scrapped, in which case a better partnership might be possible.
