So I have this potassium sulfate powder that is used as a plant fertilizer, and my retailer says it is "food grade".

Can I take tiny doses (like 1/4 of a teaspoon) as a potassium source for the body? RDA says we should take 4,700mg of potassium everyday (more if you are phisically active or lift weights), but for an extremely unknown reason supplements are limited to 99mg, WTF is this some kind of conspiracy or what? Also, sulfur is apparently the 3rd mineral inside our body and many of us are defficient on that.

I already get some sea salt everyday, it tastes good and feels great. Can I combine both? Or is potassium sulfate toxic in any way? Thanks in advance.

Potassium sulfate might not be a good idea as a supplement, the sulfur you are eventually looking for as a supplement is organosulfur while the sulfate in potassium is from sulfuric acid.

It has potential toxic effects, especially on the nervous system, relatively safe as topical.

Potassium bicarbonate would be a smarter choice and is so cheap is really not worth to bother too much about recycling something intended as a fertilizer.

A 50/50 mix with table salt is a good idea if you aim to improve potassium intake and reduce sodium (lowering pressure, for example).

Usually the upper daily limit is about 6g for potassium bicarbonate since too much leads to a drop in pressure and might lead to death because of heart failure.

Potassium is one of the components of lethal injections used as death penalty.

Essential element, healthy but...to be taken with a grain of salt!

I use Donat Mg mineral water as a contribution to my magnesium supplementation since about 4 years. It contains about 1 gram of magnesium as Magnesium sulfate per liter.

What would be the potential toxic effects of sulfate on the nervous system?
