If you were to take a 1/4 cup of coffee for a boost, and it didn't work, would you try again in 6 hours and then again the next day and the next until you ran out of coffee? By then you'd say, "coffee doesn't work - screw that wholistic stuff." Why do we do the same thing for herbal supplements then? If it were a tea, you would just make it stronger, but because it comes in a capsule, you think you should just do what the bottle says.

50mg of Withanolides is about a cup of coffee for things like anhedonia, apathy, and the mid-day slump. For KSM-66 (5-6%), that's 3x 300mg pills. For Sensoril (8-10%), that's 2x 300mg pills. For the 1.5% extract, you would need over 3 grams. This stuff is so watered down half the time, it's not even funny. Here is a photo from an Indian brand I found:

This is the first time where I actually agree with the instructions on the package on how to dose Ashwagandha. It's from the country where it is grown, so... just saying... they should know it's safety just from anecdotal experience.

Don't drink the watered down coffee, and don't dose your Ashwagandha like you don't know what's good for you.

50mg of withanolides. Do the math.

I've been wondering how Ixoreal came to choose 600 mg of KSM-66 per day as the dose used in every single one of their clinical trials.  They must have pretty good reason to believe 600mg/day is a kind of sweet spot, or I'd imagine they would have tested larger doses in at least one of the trials.

The makers of sensoril went as high as 500 mg/day (250 mg bid @ 11.9% withanolides) in one of their studies - https://blog.pricepl...ania_review.pdf.  See Table 2 on Page 4.  It appears the higher dose is better for all parameters.  However, in many cases it's not much better than the 250 mg/day (125 mg bid) dose.  So, in their case, maybe they just stick with recommending the lower dose of 250 mg/day based on more of a cost/benefit perspective.  Tempted to try it at 500 mg/day though to see how the effects differ.

If we are talking per day, which I wasn't, 100mg of withanolides is what I would recommend for mood enhancement and a driving energy. Anything less is water to me.

And for the record, a quarter cup of coffee might have those same consistent results in other areas, too. Most people don't drink coffee for the health promoting effects, but if they did, they would also deliberately underdose to prevent mood lift and energy thinking those are side effects from an overdose... because that's not what the scientific article said was effective. It's just silly. Do what works for you, and let the science justify the safety and mechanism of actions.
