I've been trying to recover from a concussion for a few months now and I'm still facing some symptoms. As I head back to the uni in a few days I am looking for anything that might help me, so I come here. Any suggestions on some nootropic drugs/supplements that may assist my recovery would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Note: I am willing to practically experiment on myself and report what the results are

I would look for into supplements / nootropics that increase BDNF & NGF, have anti ischemic/neuroprotective properties and which decrease neuro inflamation. A few nootropics that I know of are Noopept , Mexidol, Celebrolysin, Mildronate.

I found the 2 articles below which attempts to address the issues resulting from concussions with the help of natural supplements.
It could be a good start.

Hi Brian, It is likely wise that you are looking deeply into quickly improving the damage from your concussion. My general understanding is that the effects can persist for many years.

Something that has not been mentioned to you here or on Reddit is Transcranial Laser or LED. (LED arrays are cheap If you decide to go the light route, it might be the way to go. ) Dave Asprey recently had a concussion, and he discusses what he did to help to recover including Laser treatments.

Asprey: "I took a device like this, put it on my brain a few days after the concussion, and just three minutes here, you just kind of aim a light at the brain. Like, what the heck? Well, here’s the deal. This is, this works. It’s well known to work. It’s infrared and red lasers, and LEDs actually are all that it takes in order to do that now." I have linked to the pdf file of his discussion.

There have been quite a few human and rodent studies related to brain treatment using LED arrays and Lasers. For the possible LED/Laser treatment, you would be well served by posting in Lostfalco's thread. I think that he mostly focuses on human results from studies. Among many things, I believe Laser/LED has been shown to increase BDNF, but the research is beyond me.

The following link takes you to the most recent posts from his extensive thread. Might be a good idea to look backwards though.

Good luck, and please follow up as your recovery proceeds.
