Prostaglandin D2 (or PGD2) is a hormone-like lipid compound known to be critical to development of allergic diseases such as asthma.

PGD2 is also chronically elevated in bald scalp compared to haired scalp of men and women with androgenic alopecia (Threefold+ IIRC).

Niacin releases PGD2 out of the cells into the blood stream (well-known niacin flush) which is then partly removed/inactivated afterwards (correct?)

I'd like to make use of this effect to keep cellular PGD2 as low as possible and therefore need some advice.

Is high PGD2 homeostasis beatable or not?

When you stop flushing (due to tolerance) is it a sign for low cellular PGD2 levels?
