Hi Guys,

After a traumatic experience in which I over thought and then went into a spiral of major depression that hasn't seized since September of last year, I need some recommendations on how to treat this.

All of the.information and theory in which people give to me seems to go right over my head as I had no prior knowledge and I'm severely disabled due to this illness. All I want is a possible solution and anything that will reverse the symptoms.

I need to do this as my life is obviously dependent on getting rid of this as I was an aspiring pilot and was so determined and happy towards taking that pathway in my life, now tho I have no feeling and emotional drive let alone the motivation to do it.

I understAnd that this is possibly a defense mechanism from the tragic thoughts in which I was having and the subconscious treatment of drugs like heavy abuse of, marijuana and alcohol during the.time period which probably made this so much worse.

But regardless, I just want to move forward, being stuck like this since September and declining is awful, I haveabsoloutrly no aspiration and the blank mind of deep depression is torture.

If anybody can offer any solutions from personal experience and if Indeed this is treatable, my problem I especially have is the fact that I cold turkeyd zoloft multiple times and I believe that could of contributed to the decline, I often wonder if I was never in the drug I would of never had MDD.

As I have been enlightened ssris can often make things worse if you don't have an imbalance and too much serptonin can produce neurotoxicity.. if the damage is done and there is indeed no way out as other members have said, then why am I trying In infutility, I might as well give up.

I have been recommended nortriptyline+zoloft combo can any one vouch for this combo in similar circumstances, the theory is noridipherine and dopamine are depleted so this combo replenished.them. but unsure as I'm not a pharmacologist.

Any other medications.would be appreciated as willing to try anything.

Thanks

I just also dnot understand why a defense mechanism would last indefinitely

What I'm taking at the moment for a short duration,

-CDP choline to Increase dopamine and noridipherine densities, and replenish cells etc, precursor to acetylcholine, generally safe and we'll tolerated, wondering if there could be associated risk as overstimulation of acetylcholine seen to cause issues.

-Ashghwanda for anxiolytic effects unsure of mechanism of action. Seem.to had some good benefits.

-bacopa, seized usage as seemed to make me.very spaced and not good experience, increased anxiety.

Tried NSI-189 seized due to being to afraid of long term effects.

PRL-8-53 made me feel stoned lol.

I also thought uoregulating the serotonin receptor subsets is also a way to treat this. Due to down regulation from serotogenics.

How long were you using zoloft? For some, the withdrawal period can be quite long. Anhedonia can be present during that time.

Also, have you ruled out other factors that could be contributing to your symptoms - testosterone levels, thyroid function, HPA axis. Im assuming your diet and sleep habits are good.

Regarding CDP choline: while it seems to be a pretty harmless supplement for many, in some some people it can cause depressive/anhedonic state. Acetylcholine and dopamine need to be in a balance. If you already have somewhat high levels of Ach then supplementing with precursors may worsen your condition. For me low doses work to a degree, but anything over 250mg a day seems to make me depressed.

And have you actually had any help specifically to treat the trauma? I don't think it's good how you are ignoring the psychological.

Firstly, have you read any of the OTHER threads about "blank mind"?

Several of the people afflicted seems to have agreed that what they have been struck with, is a case of Depersonalisation/Derealisation - which is, indeed, hypothesized to be a way for the brain to enter a protective state, to detach you from any sort of stimuli, in order to make sure you are not held back by an emotional response, when you must do everything in your power to survive (or so the brain thinks) - the moment when you are struck however, can often be traumatic in itself - what people are describing, sounds almost like a slight, slight psychosis.

I recommend reading up on the other threads, and studying them closely - try and see if you have the same symptoms, and if the circumstances are similar.

So far, if it's DP/DR you have, then antidepressants, as well as glutamate-modulating compounds are the substances with some evidence to support their use as treatments of the disorder.

They are as follows:

SSRI's

Modafinil

Lamotrigine

and possibly...

...Tianeptine.

Tianeptine normalises the currents mediated from NMDA and AMPA-receptors - implying that it's actually a glutamate-modulator, similar in some aspects to Lamotrigine - since it's also an antidepressant, like Lamotrigine, this then hypothetically implies potential efficacy in the treatment of the disorder.

Here are the other threads, for your reference:

Once you have done so, and if you come to the conclusion that you have DP/DR, then I would suggest you check out this place, a support-forum for people afflicted with DP/DR - there's a lot of great discussion going on there:

I can't get any type of euphoria feeling from anything anymore it simply doesn't happen. Including alcohol.

I have this too, I believe it is from years of SSRI use as well as recreational drug use (MDMA, Cocaine, ect)

I have been clean and sober for about 5 years, most aspects of my problems have resolved, but I still deal with depression and adhd.

And, as you stated above, I dont get any pleasure feelings anymore, not from alcohol, not from cannabis, not from ciggarettes, nothing,

Ive tried many antidepressants but have had no luck so far. I dont know what else to do.

Hi guys thanks for the replies.

First of all I have no true Idea of what this may be I can hypothesize all I want regarding the symptomology but I believe that this would have to closely resemble major depressive disorder mixed with DR/DP.

The main thing for me and many other users suffering this is how to treat it and find any medication/therapy in which can address these problems.

The issue is that the rresources nor the knowledge is there to support people with these issues but the resources are available in regard to medications etc. It's just the psyche in which you are dependant on in which leads you down roads of infutility based on ignorance.

I don't resonate particularly with the no thought symptoms its more described like a disconnection from thoughts to me but still generating thought.

I used SSRIs for around three years on and off and every time I would return I would cold turkey, in this period I have dramatically lost all function and zest etc.

I'm not sure if the ssris caused this or if trauma caused this all I know is that it is most likely the combination of these and recreational drug use that contributed.

I will try to get prescriptions of these medications and keep in contact with fellow sufferes on here I just feel like so weak as you can all feel from months and months on end waking up trying to survive in this state.

Some of my emotions have returned but my cognitive abilities are shot. I'm currently on flouroxetine and am going to try nortriptyline and flouroxetine combination in a few weeks and if that doesn't work setraline with nortriptyline. Then all the other recommendations like parnate etc.

Then if fail I guess ECT and Lithium treatments are viable lol.

I Still have severe anxiety in the beginning I didn't have any for more than a month so I guess that is an improvement. I had never been so relieved to have anxiety return in my life it used to be a huge detriment.

If the ssris are to blame then I guess using TCA or Maois will correct that issue but anyway I guess I will report back to you guys after trial of medication.

I'm very afraid for mine and your guys futures whom are suffering from this concoction of Bullshit.

Is happiness just a dream?

Peace out friends.

Thanks for all of your thoughtful replies.
My withdrawals were never that bad compared toto now by the way, when the trauma hit everything changed immensely for me but that was following 8 months withdrawl so Idk if th st can catch up or what.
You get to the stage where you are so mentally weak from this you know what I mean.

If the medication doesn't work I have no hopes for the future and will probably kill myself even know I'm Christian.

If the medication doesn't work I have no hopes for the future and will probably kill myself even know I'm Christian.

There are several other experimental compounds to try, even if the traditional treatments with SSRI's and older antidepressants don't work. Don't give up!

God rewards fighters - don't forget that.

Personally, I think you should try the glutamate-modulating compounds now:

Tianeptine

LAMOTRIGINE (this one has better results than SSRI's when it comes to treating DP/DR)
Modafinl

And as you are aware, opiate Kappa-antagonists are being researched as potential treatment of DP/DR as well, since it has been noted that the Kappa-receptors may be involved in triggering DP/DR - reason? The Kappa-system mediates feelings of PUNISHMENT - which makes it wholly different from the other opiate systems, which mediate reward.

We have a planned group buy of the Kappa-antagonist CERC-501 here on the forums - please check it out, and then read up on the kappa-system, and DP/DR.

KOR agonists, like spiradoline and enadoline, were pointed as a possible medication for mood disorders and, while spiradoline can reduce tics frequency and provoke sedation in patients with Tourette’s Syndrome (Chappell et al., 1993), enadoline (KOR-agonist) can produce sedation, depersonalization, visual distortions, confusion and paranoia (Walsh et al., 2001a and Walsh et al., 2001b).

It has also been indicated that KOR agonists may decrease mood (Cohen and Murphy, 2008) and can, with acute dosing, lower mood as well (Bucheler et al., 2005 and Cohen and Murphy, 2008).

...which suggest that KOR-specific ligands...might be for mood stabilization as well.

If you look closely at it, you will see the same pattern I, and many others, are starting to see - they believe KOR-agonism makes you feel like sh*t. They believe KOR-agonism can stabilize mood - being DP/DR does seem to be as if you are in a state of perpetually stabilized mood.

Subsequently, it stands to reason that ANTagonism will do the opposite.

you've got to bring yourself to find a good psychiatrist who knows about these conditions or find somebody perhaps a trauma-dissocation specialist therapist would help you as well.

it's already been sumarised above, but you can show this to your doctor http://apt.rcpsych.org/content/11/2/92
