Hello!

I am new here. I'm male and 18 years old.
Since 1-2 years I am on SSRIs because of Social Anxiety, Mood issues, nervousness and so on.

I'm convinced that there might be a hormonal imbalance because of the way I react to some things and because the way I react to some things.
SSRIs made me apathetic, Rhodiola sometimes/often makes me drowsy, coffee makes me wired but tired, cannot sleep but being exhausted, and nervous, anxious sometimes at the same time.
Especially if I take Rhodiola in the morning and at midday a cup of coffee, I rather can go to sleep instead of doing other things. Normally my blood pressure goes up after coffee but Rhodiola seems to balance it out, but maybe the whole stimulant effect of caffeine so I cannot feel it.

Today, I took 200mg Rhodiola and I had brain fog (the same feeling as with SSRIs at high dosage).

If I don't take Rhodiola, I get very nervous and my blood pressure is very high especially in the morning. My whole body then is nervous and fatigued at the same time (but not everyday!!!)
Magnesium seems to help a bit, but is not the best cure.

I also take capsules that contains Ashwagandha, rhodiola (only 90mg), ginkgo, and other stuff that improve cognitive functions. The first time I took it (with coffee), I got an mild euphoria and had a feeling I seldom can feel. It's a kind of reward feeling that I want to do something. -> The flip side of being apathetic. I miss this feeling!!

I am not sure if this capsules do anything because today I was very foggy.
Last year I had the most problem because my SSRI dosage was very high and I was too apathetic, tired and foggy to actually listen to conversations, thinking about stuff, analyzing and so on. Doing sports was not possible during that time. That medication seems to make me very fatigue.
I have the feeling, that herbs like Rhodiola in dosage 200mg and more, Theanine, make me feel apathetic too and fatigued.
Theanine makes me drowsy, also when combined with coffee. Theanine seems to make me more shaky when combined with coffee and it makes me drowsy and foggy!!!
Rhodiola 200mg and more makes me drowsy too.
In low dosage, Rhodiola 100mg, it doesn't make me really drowsy but doesn't do much (anymore) for my mood.

I am frustrated because I need some energy and reward motivation but being calm at the same time!!!
If I am nervous I cannot concentrate on my work, and if I am foggy I also cannot concentrate!!!

I am generally very introverted (depends on my mood a lot!). SSRIs helped to solve the anxiety a bit but it made my cognition worse. If I am feeling very good and not empty (in my head), I can talk to people easier. But my mood and energy changes often, that's the problem.

What should I do?? Doctors cannot help me (anymore).
What about Tianeptine? I cannot rely on several supplements that barely affects me in a positive way and seems to make things worse.
I don't want to swallow several pills during the day and have to worry if it makes the whole thing worse.

Several days ago, I had to cry a lot for no reason. Everything annoyed me and made me depressed. I have no idea what chemical imbalance that is.

You are likely right about the hormonal imbalance, anyway hormones and neurotransmitters are very closely related.

My suggestion is to leave alone experimenting with supplements just by chance, you need a smarter approach in order to hope for a solution.

An hormones test would be a good start, an endocrinologist should be able to help you.

Probably SSRI isn't a good idea, isn't working very well with you for sure.

Meanwhile you get the tests done try this out:

have a thermometer close by your bed, as soon as you wake up grab it and measure your temperature, do it moving as little as possible while laying in bed, just enough to grab the thermometer.

That is your basal temperature, repeat for a few mornings in order to get an average.

If it is lower than 36,5° it might mean a thyroid dysfunction otherwise often difficult to detect.

Do you have blood test showing triglycerides, cholesterol, etc...?

During summertime do you spend time in the sun, like holidays on the seaside?

If yes, how do you feel in summertime, does it get worst in winter, especially late winter like right now?

Do you follow a nutritional plan, any food excluded or any particular feeding habits?
