Wow. Senescent cells and senolytics have certainly taken center stage in the battle against aging in the last year.

It has been at least 15 years since the SENS Foundation identified senescent cells as a possible contributor to aging. Finally there is significant movement and investment in this area of biotechnology.

LongeCity has long successfully supported speculative research into rejuvenation research and the senescent cell niche is no different. You might recall that earlier this year LongeCity helped to raise over $8,000 for the CellAge senolytic effort!! It was a LongeCity certified fundraiser and donors came through in a big way. Many thanks.

Now you can hear from the leader of CellAge in the LongeCity Now podcast. Mantas Matjusaitis is leading this search for functional designer human senolytics. Find out how he became involved in the field, more about CellAge, and how the research will proceed.

The podcast is coming up later this week. Please ask any questions ahead of time in this forum and I will be sure to ask Mantas them during the podcast.

In this podcast we hear from one of the more recent entrants into the field of senescent cells - Mantas Matjusaitis, the founder of CellAge. Find out how his start-up company plans to reduce and reverse aspects of aging related to senescent cells.

I contributed a tiny amount to this effort ($50) and received a small sticker in the mail. Good interview, thank you!

So...Early human preclinical trials in maybe mid 2019; clinical trials maybe 2021.

"Hopefully if everything goes well we can have products by 2025," he said.

Is clearing a wide range of senescent cells only part of the senescent cell puzzle? That is, after killing appropriate dead beat cells, must we now establish new healthy cells to replace senescence? Seems like a two step process: kill and rebuild. And if it's the same (aged) body producing new cells, will they be aged cells replacing senescent cells?

Thanks again for the interview -- seems to pose more questions than answers -- but it's good to hear potential progress. AdG has been talking about clearing senescent cells for more than a decade.
