Anyone else do this protocol who is doing endurance sports? I'm finding better endurance results on fission days than fusion days, and am interested in hearing about other experiences.

Hi guys

not posted here for a longtime and have used Turnbuckles protocols extensively.

Here is a really on topic video which is looking at the results of Stearic Acid consumption on both the Fusion and Fission of Mitochondrial.  It examines the results of a study in humans on Stearic Acid consumption on Mitochondria.

Don't be put off about the Testosterony start.  Often its high achieving athletes that are interested in this stuff.  Anyway here is the link

https://youtu.be/r86...On8a-ENkebDcYwb

It also looks as some of the other benefits which may be the result off this upregulation of the Mitochondria.

If Turnbuckle is scanning this threat I hope you return mate.  You and your insight/knowledge are missed.

Food for thought....

Cheers

stephen_b,

Endurance athlete here (cycling) 52 male.  I have done the Mito and Stem Cell protocols extensively, as well as just about everything else in the universe.  Mito was not helpful for athletic performance in my case.  My endurance and overall health is best on this protocol:

1. 8+ hours sleep, I'll sleep 10 sometimes. This is number one.

2. Magnesium/Zinc (In the morning for sleep).

3. Lot's a protein.  100g/day minimum.  I used to think protein was overrated but have changed camps on that.

4. NMN - 1.5g 6 days a week.

5. Athletic greens - 2 servings some days if I feel like I need it

6. Impamorelin / CJC-295 subq 250 mcg each once per day, 5 days a week.3

7. Rotation of all Bioregulator peptides available at PS.

8. 1200mg NAC - regular NAC.  Ethyl-ester and GlyNAC affect my sleep negatively.

C60 - as needed, a couple of time a week.

Once in a while Stem Cell protocol w/GMS and DHM + Aminos + TMG

Once in a while Synolytic: Fisetin, Apigenin, Grape Seed Extract

That's it (I guess that's kind of a lot lol).

I credit NMN and C60 with giving me a bullet proof immune system.  I have not been sick in over 6 years.  I feel exposed I kick down some Emergen-C and C60.

As with everything, this may be specific to me but worth passing on.

My LongeCity friends - please don't "off-topic" me.  This is a direct response to a question in the forum.

Thanks for posting this. I was hoping Turnbuckle would turn up somewhere. I tried 100 mg PQQ + "about" 1 gram (probably more) of AAKG this morning and definitely noticed something. I will do it again tomorrow.

Another question about lactate. In what form should it be taken, in the form of calcium lactate, or is there some supplement with pure lactate? Or just eat sour cream or yogurt?

"What was it that you noticed?"

The first day it was hard to describe, more of a general feeling. Like more energetic even though motivation was lacking, plus less brain fog. Also I was busy dealing with car issues. Yesterday I had the same general feeling but also noticed that my tinnitus was gone. It had been getting worse lately. This morning it had come back but about 30 minutes after dosing with PQQ/AAKG it has mostly disappeared again. (I had the same effect from a previous TB protocol a couple of yeas ago, but it still came back). Yesterday I went for a 2 hour walk. I noticed my eyesight was more clear without my glasses and I felt I had more energy at first. But after the first hour I was dragging myself to finish and I pretty much felt like shit later until I took a nap.

Why don't you try it and report back.

"Another question about lactate."

I don't know. Exercise creates lactic acid in the muscles, maybe that is what TB was referring to. I don't think sour cream or yogurt has any. You could always try to steal a bag of Ringer's solution from an unattended ambulance and inject yourself. j/k

Re post #2201

Thanks for the feedback, EliotH. I'm in the process of picking out what PQQ to buy. I had considered this:

Horbäach PQQ Supplement 40 mg | 120 Capsules | Maximum Strength

which is advertized on Amazon, until I read the label, that is. Looking at the blow-ups of the bottle images one finds that the product isn't "40mg" capsules at all.

The PQQ comes in 20mg capsules and the suggested serving size is 2 capsules (40mg). So in the end, the "great price" was more in line with other products that don't try to play tricks with their labelling.

For me, Horbäach is now out of consideration, since my gut feeling is that when a company makes one fail it's likely that there are other, perhaps less obvious fails waiting to be discovered.

Here are some reddit comments on the company.

Yeah I hate it when they play games with serving size. I have  Health Thru Nutrition and Toniiq brands PQQ.  I took HTN two days ago and today, and Toniiq yesterday. They both seemed to have the same effects. BTW they both have expiration dates in 2023. My AAKG is Bulk Supplements, I have seen reviews of their products ranging from "great stuff" to "my friend tested in their lab and it wasn't even close to what they claimed" (I forgot what that was for). You can never tell if the good reviews are legit or if the bad ones are from a competitor.

I should have mentioned that my heart arrhythmia has pretty much disappeared since the new PQQ protocol. I have been using astaxanthin for a couple of years for that but it never totally went away. I can say that on my walk yesterday I experienced zero blips. Usually I get a few. I'm sure I am leaving out some other effects (too bad improved memory is not one of them). Tinnitus is still gone for today. I wonder if I can do this protocol every day?

I am 77 yo., and 3 months ago had my first Afib.  The cardiologist did an echo of heart and that was excellent.  1 shock with defibrator and I was back into sinus rhythm.   My smart watch diagnosed my Afib.   Knock on wood.  I am going to try Turnbuckles new protocol.  Will get back.

I tried the latest version  (120mg PQQ + 2g of AKG).

It definitely has effects. Generally, I feel my body much more energized, with more stamina (I do a lot of caving) and my brain much more clear and motivated. I also noticed that the eye strain that I had the last month has calmed down a lot. All senses feel that they are amplified.

Seems like a great step forward simplifying the protocol!

Thanks Turnbuckle

PAMPAGUY - I don't have Afib, just PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) which are not as serious but can be annoying.

So far tinnitus subsides for about 12 hours on this protocol. It started coming back last evening and woke me up at 4am. As far as the vision thing - everything seemed more clear and maybe colors were brighter, but focus was not much improved.

In Turnbull's previous protocol.  You felt bad while the zombie cells were being destroyed.  Then later better and new mitocondria are produced.  Have some questions for you.  Are you only doing this once?.  Seems the trial was 71 times.  Your using AKG which was OK to use in prior protocol, but 4X vs AAKG.  Where does Lactose figure in the protocol.  Thanks for everything and keep everyone up to date.  I really am desperate for for energy, etc at 78 yo.

I tried the this with 100mg PQQ and 2 grams of AAKG. I did not notice a major difference. However, I have been doing about 6-8 rounds of the previous protocol three times a year for the past two years.

So I did not expect much. I conclude my mitochondria are functional. I lift weights (two day split - four days per week total) and swim, stationary bike, or hiking (when weather permits) 3-4 times per week.

I like HSN, very high trust pilot score, and low minimum for free shipping.

I saw this new mito protocol a couple of weeks ago.  But I think I will stick with the previous fission/fusion with nicotinamide version of it because the older variant has been tried successfully by more people, even if the old mito protocol is slower working than this one.

I have been using this protocol for 2 rounds and feel better.  Using 24 mg. Dox, twice a day and 250 AZit  twice in 7 days.

I'm not entirely sure I'm following what the protocol is. Is it PQQ (100 mg) and AAKG (1 g) without any fission or fusion promotors at all?

It looks like a progression might be PQQ/AAKG for 2-3 days and then lactate/PQQ/AAKG cycled with days off.

I have some calcium lactate powder on order and plan on trying this out next week.

Toniiq has a real 40mg cap on Amazon. One reviewer said:

"These are and do what they are supposed to do but be warned that it is easy to over do this supplement, which can cause liver damage, living witness. "

So I did a search for "PQQ liver damage" and it mostly came back with PQQ is actually protective against liver problems. It also seems to protect against noise induced and age-related hearing loss in mice. Maybe my hearing will come back after doing this treatment.

I'm going to try 100 mg. PQQ +  gram AAKG for 3 days then 1 day of Lactose.  Started today.   Haven't decided dose on Lactose.  Any recommendations accepted.

Turnbuckle was unclear about a few things.

If you look at the chart he posted he is using 2 grams of lactate, although it’s not clear from which source. But I guess you could use calcium lactate and just adjust according to the ratios.

Toniiq has a real 40mg cap on Amazon.

I have used Toniiq PQQ but prior to taking Toniiq's NMN which was suspiciously cheap - but on this quality survey conducted by NR supplier of Niagen, Chromadex, it was one of the few which came out well:

The Toniiq "certificate of analysis" for PQQ40 can be found here. The reason I've put "certificate of analysis" in quotes is because that "CoA" is a joke. A real CoA will contain these elements

Some comments on Toniiq products can be found here:

"Toniiq's products are the "worst of the worst"; see:" After the "see:" the author of the quote provides 2 links that you should look at.

and here:

"Funny enough, Toniiq's products are the worst of the worst we have tested. Every single one of them has failed our testing in the lab. ALL OF THEM. Not just failed for assay, but for ID, too!"

I'd suggest that anyone interested in Toniiq products should dig deeper. I for one, won't be buying anything "Toniiq".

Well, if true this would require some explanation - there is reputationally some measure of accountability when a listed company such as Chromadex issues these findings - they are not unbiassed, though. They gave it a 99% pass. I used the NMN and found it subjectively effective as with other NMN supps - but of course it is hard to know. But those tests were reassuring even though it is one product.

There is no obvious reason I can think of as to why Chromadex would lie about the purity of Toniiqs brand of NMN.

Are there any official lab tested results beyond what I assume are non-verifiable claims on Reddit which offer any proof the products are inferior?

Maybe that is why the Amazon reviewer claimed he had liver damage from Toniiq's 40 mg caps.

Anyone know of a good PQQ brand? There were a few disparaging reviews on the HTN product, like saying it should be orange but theirs is pale yellow. I suppose everything on Amazon has some negative reviews and you never know if they are real.
