I was recently prescribed this for a drug-resistant E. Coli UTI. Initially a doctor (my internist) suggested cipro, I said no way due to all the neuro side effect horror stories. I am very susceptible to all manner of neuro issues due to my methylation genetic profile.
Bactrim and amoxy helped temporarily but didn't get rid of it, maybe made the infection stronger.
Doctor (my GP) RX'd me 14 days of macrodantin, 100 mg twice a day. I just took the first dose and feel a slight headache and dizziness. Should I be worried, does anyone know about neurotoxicity? Apparently it's rare but given my profile I'm sure I'd be one of the lucky few.

Now I've got worsening neuropathy, weakness/numbness/burning in my arms and legs... it seems my system is incredibly sensitive to everything: NSI-189, pregnenolone, now this. Apparently (sometimes) permanent neuropathy is a known side. Any thoughts as to why?

I've noticed that glutathione now makes these symptoms worse. Prior to taking macrodantin, I never had an issue with glutathione. Assuming mac. is neurotoxic and has done real damage to my CNS, what could make glut. now harmful to me? I have Lyme and genetic detox issues.

Dr. wants to put me on ertepenem, an IV antibiotic, to treat e. coli. I'm worried about neurotoxicity, given I'm still messed up from a single dose of macrodantin. Any thoughts as to potential neurotoxicity here?
