I just recieved spermidine from a speciality lab, which is the only way to receive it. It's a difficult supplement to handle. It melts at room temperature quickly and freezes/clumps at temperature a few degrees above freezing.

First, I am wondering, is it safe to take? There are warning labels all over the bottle and various websites e.g. getting in eyes can cause blindness, do not get on skin or can cause burns, go to hospital immediately if ingested, can cause intestinial perforation! Does anyone know how safe this stuff is to consume, because it obviously doesn't sound very safe.

Second, given the difficulty in keeping it in solid form I'm just going to dissolve it in water and use drops. I am thinking about 30-50 mg two to three times a week. Any thoughts on dosing?

Do you have a microgram scale? Try a tiny part of a miligram, maybe 10mcg?

If it is what it sounds like, namely something found in human sperm, then I wouldn't worry about taking it orally. Obviously everything found in human sperm is safe otherwise a large part of the human population would have died off in the 21st century.

There are plenty of things in the human body that if given at the wrong doses would be toxic. Additionally, I don't think that testing something out in a small quantity is particularly good basis for a long-term supplement strategy. Much more useful would be research papers regarding safety, long-term use in animals etc. Nonethesless, the suggestion is appreciated.

Aged cheddar cheese has about 200 mg/kg of spermidine. It’s probably cheaper, safer, and tastier than buying spermidine as a chemical. Eating one ounce of aged cheddar will give you 5 or 6 mgs of spermidine.

The average intake of spermidine in Western cultures ranges between 7.9 and 12.6 mg/ day. Two ounces of aged cheddar will double your intake.

Wheat germ has more spermidine, but it is difficult to eat ounces of wheat germ. If you're a wheat germ lover, go ahead. I sprinkle a tablespoon or so of Kretschmer Honey Crunch Wheat Germ on fruit and yogurt, but it isn't enough to add much spermidine. Aged cheddar on sour dough pumpernickel, though...mmm...
