I've been taking about 200mg idebenone nightly for some time now; it helps improve my sleep quality and reduces some of my brain fog, in addition to lowering some chronic aching and burning sensations I have.  I have hyperadrenergic POTS, Mast Cell Activation Disorder, and meet the criteria for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; I assume the idebenone is helping with at least one of these conditions, possibly through its action on superoxides, but maybe just by facilitating the electron transport chain.  Whatever it is, the effect is unique to the idebenone.

I was buying idebenone from New Star Nootropics (NSN), but they seem to have stopped carrying it.  Most, if not all, of the other sources I've seen mentioned or seen in the past have also dried up.  I do see that Smart Powders carries it, but I've read some... unflattering reviews of their company over on the nootropics subreddit and I'm wary of buying from them.

Does anyone know of any other reliable suppliers of Idebenone?  Or... does anyone happen to know how to safely synthesize ingestible idebenone?  I know it is a synthetic based on coQ10.

And before you suggest some other antioxidant or mitochondrial supplement, please know that I've tried a very, very wide variety of them already.  Just under the umbrella of mito supps alone, I've tried NADH, PQQ, ubiquinol, ubiquinone/coq10, ALCAR/ALA, glutamine, mega-doses of all the B-vitamins, reasonable doses of all the B-vitamins (including methylfolate and hydroxycobalamin) magnesium, vitamin E, creatine, vitamin C, and vitamin D.  (I am considering trying succinate, c60, mitoq, or some oxoloacetate if I can find some, but we're getting a bit out there, and I'm unsure that these will match idebenone's activity, since similar compounds with similar mechanisms haven't so far.)  I've also tried a stunning number of other interventions for my conditions -- supplements, dietary changes, pharmaceuticals, compression stocks, behavioral modifications -- just about everything on every medical list for all of them.  Nothing else has done what idebenone does for me, and I'd like to maintain those improvements.

At this point, I'm really primarily interested in finding a solid replacement supplier for my idebenone.  Does anyone have any tips to share?

I do see that idebenone is in Axon Labs' "Mitogen", along with a bunch of other stuff (some of which I can't have).  I suppose that means they must have access to some idebenone that they trust, but I would prefer to find it separately, if possible.  I'm not sure they'd want to send me little batches of their idebenone separately all the time anyway -- but if I get desperate, I'll keep this in mind.

I'd like to avoid dealing directly with a Chinese supplier, if I can manage it.  I'd rather not have to buy a gigantic batch, and I don't have ready access to purity testing.  I've read before that idebenone has a relatively short shelf life, so I don't want to be storing years worth of it at a time.  And from what I've gathered, there aren't very many of us looking to use idebenone these days, so some kind of "group buy" wouldn't really get off the ground, even if I could coordinate it.

I found idebenone capsules over at Relentless Improvement.  They're not cheap, even by idebenone standards, but RI seems to have a pretty good reputation for purity and reliability (they've been doing this awhile).  It also looks like they ship internationally, and might send some to you in Norway.  I might try a bottle of these and see if they're comparable to the New Star stuff I've been using (I still have a bit of it left to use in comparison).

I also found some from a brand called HBC Protocols, which I don't really know anything about, except that I did find a handful of references to some of their other products being ostensibly high-quality.  However, in order to get idebenone that isn't part of a cream or some other external-use-only product, you seem to need to call them directly, and that seems something of a pain.  I'm not sure why that is, either.  AFAIK, idebenone hasn't been patented yet in the U.S. (although there is a company that has been trying to do so).  I'm not entirely sure of the quality to know whether or not it's worth it.  I assume that, with shipping, it doesn't work out to really be much (if any) cheaper than Relentless Improvement's idebenone; it's already almost as expensive without shipping as RI's is with.

I found a few other vendors that seemed pretty shady and had mostly negative reviews (purity issues, taking money and not sending product, terrible customer service, etc.), and references to a lot of suppliers that used to sell idebenone, but don't anymore.

Is Sigma-Aldrich selling 10mg of idebenone for $64 and 100mg for $362?  Or am I misreading something here?  Because those prices seem insane.
