Another poster reported that the new HPN pills are uniform in color, the old pills have clearly visible brown powders mixed with white fillers. He also reported it is not as effective as before.
I looked at the powers before and now. The new pills have uniform color. It is no longer the same. Is it another basis?

I also want to know if HPN pills have changed in composition. If they are now using anything other than NR (is it in the chloride form?) from Chromadex I want to see their own studies comparing absorption, NAD boosting, and purity. This is a very important matter, because we need to know if they are trying to use some other form of NR. Did I read that Basis is now using ordinary white NR (pure) from another supplier? I'm about to make another purchase of NR and I need to know officially what source of NR HPN is using.

In the picture lower two capsules are "old HPN", upper two capsules are "new HPN". The powder also seems more densely packed in the "new HPN". BTW I was the "another user" that is referred to in the opening thread. Like I also said in the other thread it could be a pure coincidence and completely imaginative that it may work differently.

I am going to buy Tru Niagen and compare the color. Your picture shows that old and new are very much different.

ChromaDex also filed a complaint against itself to the FDA last week for using the same toxic substance in its pterostilbine.

ChromaDex didn't file a complaint against itself. Elysium responded that older versions of pterostilbene had similar toxic chemicals.
Obviously the new pterostilbene no longer has it.

MikeDC, please provide a current C.O.A. or Chromadex lab report showing the makeup of their Pterostilbene.

Get it from ChromaDex. I don't care about pterostilbene. Only one clinical study and it not very favorable.
You can tell it is not important by how ChromaDex treat Niagen and Pterostilbene.
Don't waste money on it. I have a few bottles sitting in the cabinet that I will have to throw it away.

I got hold of a sales person from HPN. They claim they get all the content in the pill from ChromaDex with no fillers. They will ask their contact from ChromaDex contact me to explain why the powder color has changed. I will keep you informed.

Gettiing back to the original topic (batch-to-batch variations in the color of HPN Niagen): this isn't new ... people have worried about differing colors between vendors and amongst different batches of the same vendors' products several times before. As the Niagen GRAS document states, Niagen can vary from white/off white to light brown.

I am going to buy Tru Niagen and compare the color. Your picture shows that old and new are very much different.

That won't help: they may use different excipients, and likely use them in different ratios.

Just received my Tru Niagen. See the comparison between HPN and Tru Niagen.
Tru Niagen resembles old HPN pills.

Interestingly, the three bottles of HPN I just received have all pure white - not even an off-white.

Supierce, would you post the information on the bottle?

Here's the info on mine

My bottle of HPN Niagen has, in light blue printing on the bottom of bottle: lot #36919,  MFG DATE:06/2017, and EXP: 06/2019

The color of the capsule contents (125 mg) is a uniform light tan.

Note that my pills were 125 mg capsules. Were yours?

Also, for anyone else posting about their NR it probably would be helpful to list source, capsule size, apparent color, lot #, manufacture date and expiration date, if available.

Same HPN label as always - same 125 mg size. LOT# 37270, MFG DATE: 06/2017, EXP 06/2019. Again, pure white, unlike my previous light brown ones.

Note that in April they used lot 37031 and in June they used older lot of 36919

MikeDC, it seems like the lot # for one of your bottles (it is HPN, correct?) is the same as the lot # that Supierce reports, i.e. 37270, but the MFG date and expiration dates are different.

So, for the same lot # Supierce's bottle says MFG 06/2017 and yours says MFG 08/2017. Unless they really meant bottling date, for example, then there seems to be an enigma with the color differences.

MikeDC are yours 125mg?

They should use lot manufacturing date. Otherwise how can we know for how long has been manufactured?
Why would they use new lot two months ahead of old lot?
Mine is 125 mg. 180 pills per bottle.

I have two other people who have lot 36919. Both have dark brown particles.
One person has all white 36919 and other two have dark brown.

I wouldn't expect any variation in color in a particular lot. A capsule larger than 125mg capacity might have color variations depending on the fillers. Something seems wrong if people are reporting different colors for the same lot # and the same capsule size.

Maybe we need to find a standard chart to refer to for colors when mentioning a color. Here is what I think of when I wrote that my NR was "light tan" which wiki calls "sandy tan".

Post #26: "So all sample of 36919 are brown. "

You say one person had all white 36919.
